Course Description

Jungian psychology, also known traditionally as analytical psychology, a school of psychology that originated from the discoveries of a Swiss born psychiatrist by the name of Carl Jung also known as Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961).

Jungian psychology highlights and places main importance on the self, the psyche and a personal journey for complete wholeness.

Jungian psychology includes a complete psychotherapeutic model for enhancing human mental health and improving development and strengthening of the ego or personality.

Sigmund Freud and founder of psychoanalytical therapy describes the human self as like an iceberg with only the tip of the iceberg representing the conscious thinking or the self as we know it and the rest of the iceberg beneath the surface containing all our feelings, emotions and drives etc.

Jungian psychology also includes this idea and also incorporates the surrounding oceans and skies as well called the collective unconscious which includes all relative and external material and influences of the world which are seen and unseen.

The idea or concept of the collective unconscious is the substrata, the supporting pillars of Jungian psychology.

Many schools of psychology place emphasis on the observable whereas analytical or Jungian psychology places much emphasis on the unseen or that which is outside of conscious awareness, the rhizome.

For students to undertake this course is an ideal beginner’s guide to Jungian psychology and a pleasure to read this stimulating subject every step of the way.
