These Terms and Conditions set out the terms that apply to purchases, course enrolments, services, and use of this website.
1. Introduction and Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern all enrolments, purchases, and use of services provided by Open College UK Limited.
By enrolling on any course, purchasing any product, or using any services, the student/customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions in their entirety, together with the Company’s Privacy Policy
Acceptance is confirmed:
- At point of enrolment
- By signature (physical or electronic)
- By ticking acceptance boxes on checkout or enrolment forms
All users confirm they have read and understood these Terms, including any associated policies referenced.
2. Medical, Therapy and General Health Disclaimer
2.1 Medical Guidance
The Company’s courses are educational only and do not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Students must always consult a qualified medical practitioner (GP or equivalent) before making any changes relating to health, medication, or treatment.
2.2 Therapeutic Applications, Techniques and Complementary Practices
Certain subjects (including hypnosis, hypnotherapy, counselling, NLP, regression therapy, EMDR, EFT, and other related therapeutic or complementary practices) are not suitable for individuals with specific medical or psychological conditions unless supervised by a qualified healthcare professional.
The Company accepts no responsibility for misuse of course material or techniques.
2.3 Liability Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Open College UK Limited, its directors, employees, contractors, and SFTR shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss, injury, or damage arising from use or inability to use course materials or services.
3. Data Protection, GDPR and Privacy
Open College UK Limited is fully compliant with UK GDPR and registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Personal data is collected and processed solely for:
- Course delivery
- Administration
- Certification
- Customer support
- Legal compliance
Students agree that their data may be used for these purposes upon enrolment.

4. Enrolment and Agreement to Terms
By enrolling, students confirm:
- They are over the minimum age requirement set by the Company
- All information provided is accurate
- They accept all Terms and Policies in full
The Company reserves the right to refuse or cancel enrolments at its sole discretion.
5. Course Structure, Access and Study Requirements
5.1 Course Format
All courses are delivered via distance learning and home study or e-learning/online unless otherwise stated.
Materials may include:
- Printed manuals
- Workbooks
- Online resources
- Assignments
5.2 Study Completion Timeframes
Standard course access is limited to 6 months from enrolment date unless otherwise stated.
Failure to complete within this period may result in:
- Course closure
- Re-enrolment requirements
- Additional extension fees at the Company’s discretion
6. Certification and Qualification Rules
6.1 Private Certification
- The Company offers both its own private in-house Diploma and Certificate awards and qualifications awarded by external awarding organisations through selected online and e-learning courses.
- Qualifications may be:
- Awarded internally by Open College UK Limited.
- Awarded by external awarding organisations, including Videotile, where applicable.
- Based on successfully completed home study coursework.
- Based on successfully completed online or e-learning assessments.
- Unless expressly stated otherwise, our qualifications are private awards and do not constitute UK government-regulated or degree-level qualifications.
- Please refer to the relevant course page for details of the qualification and awarding organisation, where applicable.
6.2 Nature of Qualifications
All qualifications are educational awards designed for:
- Personal development
- Educational progression
- Theoretical understanding
Completion of any course does not, by itself, entitle a student to practise any subject professionally. These qualifications do not guarantee employment, professional registration, acceptance onto professional registers, authorisation to practise professionally, the ability to work with clients, or business success.
These qualifications do not carry UCAS tariff points, university entry credits, or academic credit towards a university degree.
These qualifications are suitable for both experienced learners and complete beginners. They may also be used by currently practising professionals to enhance their knowledge, skills, or existing professional qualifications and may serve as introductory courses for those entering a new subject.
6.3 SFTR Membership and Register
Upon enrolment, students may receive a 6-month listing on the SFTR National Therapists Register (student status).
Students will not be listed on the SFTR National Therapists Register in the public domain unless they have requested or agreed to such a listing and have personally created and activated their own student account on the SFTR website.
The Company reserves the right to approve or decline listings.
7. References, Verification and Third-Party Requests
For valid legal, business, and operational reasons, the Company’s policy is limited to verifying course enrolment, course completion, and qualifications or awards where appropriate.
The Company does not provide character references, academic references, educational references, professional references, personal references, testimonials, opinions, or assessments relating to any current or former student.
The Company will not complete or sign third-party forms, questionnaires, declarations, competency assessments, or similar documentation. We do not click external verification links, open unsolicited attachments, or complete requests submitted through external third-party systems.
As a home study and distance learning provider, the Company does not know students personally beyond their course enrolment, course participation, and any study support provided during the period of enrolment. Accordingly, the Company is not in a position to comment on a student’s personal circumstances, character, employment suitability, professional competence, experience, conduct, or abilities beyond the successful completion of the relevant course where applicable.
The Company does not provide employment references, careers advice, assistance with obtaining employment, professional registration, insurance, university or college entry, membership of other organisations, business set-up advice, client work, therapeutic practice, consultations, or any other third-party requirements beyond the educational services described within these Terms and Conditions.
Our role is limited to providing the course, reasonable student support during the study period, assessment where applicable, and, upon successful completion, the relevant certificate, diploma, award, or other stated qualification.
8. Course Validity and Time Limits
8.1 Course Duration
All courses must be completed within the stated study period (typically 6 months unless otherwise specified). Any course that is not completed by the deadline will expire unless an extension has been applied for and approved. Course expiry dates are strictly applied. If, for any reason, you are unable to complete your course within the stated timeframe, you must contact the Company or apply for an extension by following the instructions provided within your course.
Extensions are granted solely at the Company’s discretion. Where an extension is approved, the applicable extension or re-registration fee must be paid before the extension is granted.
8.2 Expiry of Certain Courses
Some online or video-based qualifications may have expiry periods (typically 1–3 years depending on subject).
Renewal may be required where applicable.
9. Payment, Refunds and Cancellations
9.1 Cancellation Rights
Customers have statutory cancellation rights under applicable UK consumer law, including the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 where applicable.
Where a statutory right to cancel applies, customers have the right to cancel their course purchase within 14 days. This 14-day cancellation period begins on the day after the customer receives the physical course materials/goods.
To exercise the right to cancel, customers must notify the Company in writing within the applicable cancellation period. Cancellation requests should be sent by email or post using the contact details provided on this website.
Customers must contact the Company before returning any hard copy course materials or other goods. Customers must not return goods without first obtaining the correct returns instructions and postal address from the Company. Customers should not assume that any address displayed elsewhere on the website or in other correspondence is the correct returns address.
Once a cancellation request has been received, the Company will provide the appropriate returns postal address and any further instructions required for the safe return of the goods.
Customers exercising their cancellation rights must return any course materials supplied by the Company in accordance with the return procedure. Unwanted materials must be returned at the customer’s own expense unless the goods are faulty, damaged, or supplied incorrectly.
9.2 Refund Conditions
Where a valid cancellation request is received within the applicable cancellation period, refunds will be processed in accordance with applicable UK consumer law and these Terms and Conditions.
Refunds are subject to:
- Return of course materials in unused, unmarked, and resalable condition where applicable
- Return of all supplied materials belonging to the Company
- Compliance with the stated cancellation and returns procedure
The Company reserves the right to deduct any reasonable costs permitted by law, including costs relating to damaged, marked, incomplete, or non-returned materials where applicable.
Refunds will not be provided outside the applicable 14-day cancellation period unless required by law.
Refunds will be processed without unnecessary delay and within the timeframe required by applicable UK consumer law. Once a refund has been issued by the Company, the time taken for funds to appear in the customer’s account may vary depending on the payment provider, bank, or card issuer.
The Company aims to process refunds as quickly as possible. In most cases, refunds are received within a few working days; however, some payment providers or banks may take longer to complete the transaction. Customers should allow up to 10 working days for refunded funds to appear in their account where applicable.
Refunds will normally be issued using the original payment method used for the transaction. The Company is unable to issue refunds to an alternative payment method unless required or permitted by the payment provider or applicable circumstances.
9.3 Returned or Failed Payments
Payments that are declined, reversed, returned, or otherwise unpaid may result in administrative charges being applied.
Outstanding unpaid balances may, following appropriate notice, be referred for further recovery action.
10. Delivery, Postal Responsibility and Returns
10.1 Delivery
Distance Learning Course materials are delivered via postal services. Delivery times are estimates only.
The Company is not responsible for postal delays outside its control.
10.2 Undelivered or Returned Items
If goods are returned due to:
- Missed delivery
- Incorrect address
- Failure to collect
A re-delivery and administrative fee may apply.
10.3 Returns Procedure
All returns must be pre-approved in writing before being sent back.
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless goods are faulty or sent in error. Please contact us first.
11. Student Responsibilities
Students agree to:
- Complete coursework independently
- Retain copies of submitted work
- Meet deadlines
- Notify the Company of learning difficulties prior to enrolment
The Company accepts no responsibility for lost coursework submissions.
12. Learning Support and Communication
Support is provided via email only during:
Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (UK time)
Telephone support is not guaranteed.
No detailed marking breakdown is provided except pass/fail confirmation.
13. Scope of Courses and Career Limitations
All courses are educational and theoretical only.
They do not:
- Qualify students as regulated professionals
- Guarantee employment or income
- Replace formal training or licensing
Students are responsible for checking legal requirements for any intended practice.
Students are accepted onto courses on the understanding that they have undertaken appropriate and sufficient research into the suitability of the chosen course, its content, level, format, and intended purpose before enrolment.
Students are responsible for ensuring that the course selected meets their individual requirements, expectations, learning objectives, and intended outcomes. The decision to enrol onto any course is made by the student, and students accept responsibility for ensuring that they have obtained sufficient information before committing to their purchase.
By completing the enrolment process and accepting these Terms and Conditions, students confirm that they have reviewed the available course information and understand the nature, scope, and limitations of the course selected.
Where a student is uncertain whether a course is suitable for their needs, they should seek clarification from the Company before enrolment or obtain independent advice or assistance where they consider this necessary.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Open College UK Limited, its directors, employees, contractors, and SFTR shall not be liable for:
- Loss of income
- Loss of opportunity
- Indirect or consequential damages
- Misuse of materials
Use of all materials is at the student’s own risk.
15. Amendments
The Company may update these Terms at any time.
Updated Terms apply immediately upon publication.
Continued use of services constitutes acceptance.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes fall under UK legal jurisdiction.
