Course Description

Introduction to our Taoism Course!

An in-depth exploration of Taoism (literally means “the way” or “path”) is difficult, but at the same time, it might be said to be the easiest of all religions to understand.

The reason for this apparent contradiction is to be found in the fact that in its essence, Taoism is a recognition of our innate spirituality that is with us from the beginning.

Taoism is sometimes called the source or root or “uncarved block” of all Chinese religions and philosophies.

Taoism can be said to advocate the doing of nothing.

In regard to human activity, it says that our actions stemming from the natural, spontaneous impulses of the inborn spirituality will be in perfect harmony and accord with the workings of the universe.

Background

Taoism belongs to that group of philosophies which use particular situations as symbols of the human condition. Taoist fables utilize the great order of the natural world to speak of the mysteries of human existence, and present their ideas dosed in metaphoric language and symbol.

Taoism, in its essentials, is a form of playful and ironical existentialism.

Regarding Yin and Yang. Yin represents the passive, positive, male, and female energy principle, while Yang represents the active, negative, male, and female energy principle.

Taoism also labels two secondary principles in addition to Yin and Yang. It goes so perfectly that Yin and Yang are generally in balance despite the fact that they could continue to act and oppose one another simultaneously.

As soon as we awaken to the feeling of unity with all individuals, other creatures, and the cosmos, we are conscious of the Tao that flows through us all.

This course is open to any new student with or without any previous knowledge, qualifications or training in Taoism. Anyone is welcome to book onto this course as complete beginners.
