Course Description

Anyone who states they wish to commit suicide and take their own life must always be taken seriously.

There are two types of people who are suicidal. Firstly there is the person who says and believes he or she will commit suicide but will never do so. Then there is the other person who says and feels the same and will commit suicide. The two types of person cannot be distinguished.

For many people who think about committing suicide see this as a last and final resort because of their torturous internal goings-on such as depression, sadness and hopelessness to name just a few. They just need a way to escape the thoughts and feelings that they are experiencing. Many people who wish to commit suicide and talk about their intentions to do so, do not know that they won’t commit suicide and that someone like you, a counsellor is essential for them to work through their thoughts and feelings.

There are always underlying causes that lead a person to decide that they want to commit suicide. There are always root causes and from them causes are the experiences, processes and stages that a person goes through over the years to bring them to the point of wanting to end it all. These things can be worked through. Each part of their life in these areas are outside of conscious awareness. These areas can be examined. explored and reintroduced back into the cycle of feeling the thoughts so that material becomes more rationalised and accepted to some extent. This course aims to help the counsellor understand this.

This course is an ideal resource for all counsellors and trainees alike wishing to learn more about suicide. This course will give valuable insight into the suicidal tendencies of the depressed clients for all therapists.

An easy to follow, comprehensive and practical guide.

Offers practical and sound strategies including thoughts provoking real case studies and valuable discussion points. An excellent read.
