Course Description

Mental Health Awareness Diploma Awarded Course

The definition of mental health is a person’s mental condition or mental health regarding their psychological and emotional well-being.

Sometimes in extreme cases the mental health act is to be applied to certain people who for various reasons become mentally disturbed and can become harmful to themselves or others in society. The United Kingdom mental health act is a Law that states when a person can be admitted or held, detained and or treated in a mental health hospital against their will or wishes. This is commonly known as being sectioned or sectioned under that mental health act.

Primarily for this to occur, certain people who are recognised in authority must unanimously agree that the detained person has a mental health disorder which could result in serious mental or physical harm to that person or others and such requires a committed stay in a hospital for the treatment of mental disorders.

Generally speaking, the mere mention of mental health issues or mental problems creates confusion and/or fear of being labelled or ridiculed as someone who is unstable or unable to cope.

Every single human being has experienced mental health issues, mental disorders sometime in their life and that can include bouts of depression, thoughts of suicide, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, irrational fear, paranoia, excessive suspicion, extreme jealousy, strong irrational behaviours such as excessive anger, rage, violence, excessive alcohol abuse which can include short or long-term dependency, drug use, pharmaceutical drug dependency and all its side-effects, profound sadness, loss, distraught with emotions, excessive revenge, causing harm to others, grief and bereavement. All of these are emotional and psychological imbalances and disturbances, mild to extreme.

Everybody in this world has experienced mental health disorder in one form or another. Many people will recover quickly and move on. For some people this is not possible and the above can grow and escalate and develop into more established disturbed states.

Mental health problems are more common in everyday people than most ever realize.

One to two of all youngsters will experience a mental health condition where they may need professional help from a health specialist and that can include the school counsellor, priest or religious leader, therapist or GP for medication.

For some people it is inessential that they seek help and gain treatment before things escalate.
