This Car Body Repair Shop Diploma Course is ideally suited for complete beginners who have an interest in learning about vehicle body preparation, minor body repairs and the processes involved in getting damaged panels ready for refinishing.

You do not need any previous experience to begin exploring this practical and fascinating area of automotive repair.

The course introduces the basic principles behind repairing common cosmetic damage to vehicle bodywork, including dents, scratches, chips, surface imperfections and minor panel damage all for repainting.

On this course you will learn about the preparation required before repair work begins and explore how damaged areas can be cleaned, prepared, shaped and restored.

A major emphasis is placed on body filler work, including understanding the purpose of filler, preparing damaged surfaces, applying filler correctly and shaping and smoothing the repaired area. You will also explore sanding techniques, abrasive materials and the importance of achieving a smooth, even surface before moving on to the next stage of primer and paint. These preparation stages are fundamental to achieving a good final finish.

The course also introduces the preparation of vehicle surfaces for paintwork, including cleaning, degreasing, masking, surface preparation, primers and foundation materials. You will gain an understanding of how preparation affects the quality of the finished repair and why rushing the preparation stage can compromise the final result.
