Course Description

What is biological psychology?

Biological psychology also known as behavioural neuroscience, biopsychology and psychobiology is the appliance of basic fundamental principles of neurobiology or biology which studies various developmental mechanisms of human behaviour and animals which includes the areas of physiological and genetics.

Looking at how scientists working in this area examine and explore how the nervous system and the biology of a species actually affects human and animal behaviour with specific emphasis on brain activity and the effects.

Research in this area includes experiments on laboratory animals, substitutes for humans and examines the behavioural and physiological effects between that behaviour and the environment.

The area of physiology is the study of bodily functions and processes in relation to the communication required between the nervous system and processes of brain, electrical and chemical activity.

The area of biopsychology explores cognition, perception and memory involving the examination of behavioural disorders through the scope of neural biochemistry, physiology, anatomy and biophysics.

Biopsychology uses advanced methods of research to explore the field of learning, language, drug and alcohol addiction, sensory perceptions, and memory disorders to name a few.

This course also covers various techniques that explore brain stimulation, neuropharmacology, brain imaging and genetic engineering.

Looking at various scientific experiments in the area of dementia, autism motivation and hormones, sleep stability and the correlation between psychological disorder and stress-related influences.

This course is open for enrolment without any background training and qualifications. Anyone is welcome to enrol.
