Course Description

The study of sociobiology is the theory that social behaviour or human behaviour within society is the result of evolution.

Sociobiology is the study of human behaviour and human non gesticulated language behaviour including the behaviour of the animal kingdom and is explained in terms of natural selection within evolution.

Sociobiologists believe that the analysis and interpretation of human and animal behaviour must be interpreted in the context of evolutionary advances and processes.

Within sociobiology, genetics or genes play a main role within our evolutionary programming and is centred on a gene called the Selfish Gene. In essence we as a species, a being are mere hosts or gene carriers to extend and replicate our genes to their maximum potential before each of our deaths.

According to Darwin unsuccessful beings, may that be humans or animals who are not fortunate enough to distribute their genes and the important genetic information stored within them for future generations will fade away.

Sociobiology explains that human behaviour must be interpreted and analysed within the terms and considerations of evolution and evolutionary progress.

Progress of evolution seeks out specific hereditary traits which will enhance the self, replicating, keeping those genes that are specific to the process of advancements and discarding those which could be considered weaker or less advantageous in the long run for future generations and their survival.

Certain selected genes for the organism afford a better chance of surviving and adapting to the environment.

Sociobiology is based on two fundamental beliefs which are specific behavioural qualities and or traits are hereditary and inherited behavioural aspects have been fine tuned by the process of natural selection.
