Course Description

What is Narrative Counselling?

Introduction.

Narrative counselling is built on the belief that we story our life. To story our lives is to make sense out of them by telling the stories we hold about ourselves. These stories form how we are, feel, think and what we do.
Our stories influence and shape our everyday lives and the relationships we interact with on a daily basis.

The experiences that we have experienced shape our stories and our stories shape our life or how we see ourselves and how we grow. These stories show others our life up to the current moment and include our thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Narrative counselling offers meaning, positivity and improvements to our life experiences, thoughts and feelings that we share with others through stories. By changing the stories, we change the way we think and feel about our problems and difficulties.

This course offers ideas and instructions allowing counsellors and school counsellors to change the lives of both school and college students plus one to one clients through narrative restructuring techniques. Narrative counselling works on the basis that stories shape or gestalt our lives and not actual realities. By ordering the stories that we hold critically and negatively to label and define ourselves, clients or students, we assist them to open up to change and improvement.

Re-telling yourself, re-describing your stories can change the way you are toward the way you can be.

This course provides effective and brief techniques to make these changes including step-by-step guidance on how to proceed within narrative counselling.

Easy to follow, practical instructions and loaded with theoretical exploration on how to formulate narrative approaches and techniques.

This home learning course is open specifically to all types of life coaching therapists, school counsellors and adult oriented counsellors.

This course will show you how to remove the negative labels and replace them with positive ones.

This is a very effective and unique therapy that differs from many other therapeutic counselling approaches.
