Course Description

Why Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy?

In this Hypnotherapy Course you will learn that when there is a conflict within the mind between reason and logic on the one hand and emotion on the other, emotion will always win (think about it) albeit sometimes temporarily as emotion is a much stronger force than reason and logic, so if you have a problem of the unconscious mind which most people do like smoking for example then reason and logic will be overridden. This explains why someone who fears a certain situation in themselves or life knows that they are being silly or irrational about it but are still afraid of it and will say something like . . . “I cannot help myself”

When we have a problem that we cannot adequately deal with and no matter what we do with our logic and reason or common sense we cannot shift it, it just keeps coming back. We may sometimes try and work it through but soon again all that irrational stuff feelings and thoughts just comes flooding back. Sound familiar? We struggle to overcome our symptoms and intrusive thoughts and feelings but we cannot until the root cause or underlying reasons of our symptoms have been dealt with. People struggle for years without help just their own attempts at understanding but no matter how hard a person tries they will never find or unearth the causes on their own without hypnosis or hypnotherapy.

This is because people focus too much on the symptom or reaction and never ever look at what’s causing it and at what drives that person towards having their problem or the behaviour or even pattern of repetitive thought/s of one kind or another. Consciously we do not see a connection. This is because the mind has a great way over a period of time of turning one painful and or forgotten thing into another outlet!

Painful & negative unaccepted, misinterpreted psychological states of mind, developing and resulting from our life’s experiences, that we all push away, “everyone of us does this”  becomes naturally suppressed and will return in replacement/substitute forms many months or years after the painful memories have been forgot. Because the emotional content wasn’t dealt with it can make a further advancement and express itself in the body in what’s called somatoform (conversion) disorders turning itself into other harmful expressions and outlets such as the development of migraines, tinitus, skin disorders, eczema, psoriasis, IBS, asthma, arthritis, and so on. Why treat, or like most do attempt to treat the symptoms (but most of the time fail) when you can remove the cause, the reason behind the symptom with hypnotherapy? The true cure to any symptom is the removal of the cause.

For our purposes hypnosis is a series of very effective established psychological techniques, procedures & language structures that can be learnt by anyone wishing to become a hypnotist or hypnotherapist.

Hypnosis is a deep relaxed trance like state with a heightened state of suggestibility and awareness. Hypnosis has not got anything to do with the paranormal, supernatural in any form or shape whatsoever. As long as the Open College exists we shall wherever possible dispel the many myths and falseness that surrounds hypnosis.

Just as everybody is different in the way they experience life, so each person’s way of experiencing and relating to hypnosis is totally unique and individual to them. Every hypnotic experience differs. Some describe hypnosis as endless altered states of consciousness and differing levels of deepening relaxation. Hypnosis is the state between wake and sleep called the hypnogogic state, or psychosomatic sleep. That gateway point between the two, that midway point is the state better known as hypnosis. Hypnosis is also deep glorious relaxation with a heightened state of awareness and a heightened state of suggestibility. It is in this state that the hypnotist or hypnotherapist can make beneficial things happen for the subject!

Most people after having experienced hypnosis for the first time agree that it was the most peaceful and calmest experience that they have ever felt in their whole life. Hypnosis is something that needs to be truly experienced to be fully appreciated. Hypnosis, no matter how it occurs is a natural state of your awareness and deep relaxation.
