Course Description

Hand Reflexology Diploma Awarded Course

What is hand reflexology?

Hand reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to specific areas on the hands with a therapist who uses finger and hand manipulation pressure to apply massage techniques onto reflexology points under the skin.

Hand reflexology therapists tend to often work with charts or maps that follow specific patterns which correlate with internal organs and other body parts to release blocked chi energy and improve current flow.

The benefits of hand reflexology.

It is said that hand reflexology is just as important and effective as any other types of reflexology such as feet work.

Hand reflexology will give the same results as performing it on any other body part and the only difference between working with the feet or the hands is, the results can be produced quicker by working with the feet.

There are many benefits to hand reflexology over foot reflexology such as the ease of access for it to be performed almost instantly, face-to-face or over a table anywhere if needed.

Self-help do-it-yourself hand reflexology is ideal for relieving symptoms such as headaches, shoulder pains and other bodily conditions including pain relief.

Different techniques are used for hand reflexology in comparison to foot reflexology.

The difference between working with the hands and feet is you would need to stimulate the hands for longer than you would the feet. You need to go deeper and hold the hand reflexology points longer than you would on the feet as the reflexology points are closer to the surface in the feet than they are in the hands, nevertheless a 15 minute hand reflexology session is more than uplifting to say the least and can be a wonderful relaxing experience. Generally speaking, the best way to perform hand reflexology with the client is to sit across a table face-to-face with a client’s hand placed under a towel with their hands and wrists relaxed comfortably for you to work with them.

All reflexology sessions begin with a deep relaxation exercise which sets the pace of the treatment and helps to relax the client further before going deeper into therapeutic massage of the reflexes.

When working with the hands we are accessing very deep areas to stimulate hand reflex points or spots.

Reflexology has been around for over 5,000 years and has always been associated to healing and deep relaxation in one form or another.

Deep relaxation and healing are inextricably linked and promote each other.

Although people were often associate reflexology with the feet and not the hands, hand reflexology is now becoming more popular, known and beneficial to help with common ailments such as:

  • Headaches.
  • Muscular aches.
  • Headaches.
  • Skin conditions.
  • Stress-related problems.

Hand reflexology is very easy to perform literally anywhere and is less invasive or personally obtrusive as it is with the feet.

Understandably taking off the socks and shoes in the presence of a stranger is more personal and does require more of an initial rapport to be built with the client due to the intimate nature of skin contact.

This is less so with hand reflexology, although close contact is required, a friendly and reassuring attitude along with good rapport building and clear communication skills are essential in starting work in the session as a client needs to feel comfortable in your presence as a hand reflexologist at all times.

Hand reflexology is very quick and effective and this hand reflexology course provides step-by-step instructions in hand manipulation techniques which will teach you how to balance and detoxify the human body’s system to fight to reduce stress-related conditions and improve all-round emotional well-being.

10 to 15 minute sessions are ideal for everyone including the elderly and children. Children love hand reflexology as it winds them down and helps to build relationships especially if their tense and stressful or need parental attention.

This course shows you how, step-by-step and is ideal for those in the beauty industry such as salons or therapist practices and parlours specifically around holistic therapies. For example, this course would be ideal for aroma-therapists or body masseurs and the like.

This qualification in hand reflexology is a diploma award in the theoretical study of the subject and would complement any qualified therapist’s daily services, activities and existing therapy practice.

This course is also open to anyone wishing to learn hand reflexology, therefore is ideal for complete beginners and the complete novice who would like to learn how to work on family and friends or the self alone.
