This course will provide you with invaluable insights into the behaviour and challenges nursing care givers experience on a day-to-day basis.

Enrolment for this course is open to anyone with or without any background training or qualifications. Ideally suited first and foremost for those new to the field of dementia care, carers, students and nurses. This course will also be an excellent starting place for family members of loved ones who have started to develop this condition.

Within the life of the dementia sufferer there are often many unmet needs and expectations which can result in more and unnecessary challenging and difficult behaviour which can at least be alleviated and reduced if it were not for a better understanding, training and insights. This course will provide a better understanding of the condition.

This study looks at the causes behind the behaviour with both medical treatments and non-medical approaches to reducing the suffering and improving the standard of life for the dementia sufferer.

Many dementia patents will experience anxiety, anxiousness and distress and a lot of it is unnecessarily. This course will provide knowledge which can be applied to that anxiousness and distress which often does lead to challenging, aggressive and trying difficult behaviours.

Providing an understanding and a reminder that elderly dementia sufferers sitting or lying immobile for long periods of time can result in the increase of bodily internal and external muscular pain and joint aches that can’t often be expressed verbally. These aches and pains both physically and mentally sometimes go unnoticed which leads to lack of stimulation.

Additionally, lack of proper communication and mental stimulation and companionship not met at the level of the dementia patients understanding and capabilities or lack of make things much worse, irrespective of how low the patients understanding is.

The carer can meet that patient on their ground by creating a better rapport and synchronicity, response to their needs which can lead to a happier care home and surrounding environment.

Providing insightful case studies and alternative approaches to improving The patient’s daily life.

This course does not provide a cure for dementia but provides various pathways that carers can take into the mind and heart of the dementia patient and provides a sound background into the causes of the behaviours that lead to dementia distress.

Grading Assessment:

This course is assessed upon the successful completion and submission of coursework with a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Distinction is 90%. Entry Requirements:
There are NO entry requirements. No background training or qualifications are required. Anyone can enrol at any time, beginners, intermediates and experienced all year round.
