Course Description

Consilience is an agreement shared between various approaches toward a topic of differing academic subjects such as the humanities and science. Consilience refers to an amalgamating together of knowledge and data.

Consilience is a reference to the principle that independent evidence from different sources can accumulate towards sound conclusions. When an agreement of multiple collections of data or evidence resonate with one another then the outcome can be unquestionably conclusive even when each individual piece of data or evidence is weak or ineffective on its own.

Within the scientific world the accumulation of data and evidence known as a convergence of evidence often amounts to a strong scientific beliefs, consensus or conclusive outcome that this belief and discovery will stand relatively untouched unless some new evidence arises to challenge it.

Independent and detached methods of gauging or measuring differ from one another by use of a different mechanism each time a measurement is made.

When various differing methods used to reach a conclusion all agree with each other then this suggests unquestionably sound evidence that each individual method used are all in agreement or in harmony with each other and the conclusion is correct. This conclusion is arrived at simply because the possibility of errors is significantly reduced.

For an outcome or a conclusion to be incorrect then each individual differing method used would also have to be in error which is mathematically highly unlikely.

The more methods that are employed resulting in more measurements and positive and agreeable conclusions then it is less likely for random errors to stand and will thus cancel themselves out. This is partly how scientists reach high levels of agreement and confidence in theories leading to a belief or an unchallengeable outcome of evidence. All experiments and methods ultimately will converge on the same conclusion.

Consilience is the amalgamating of the social and natural sciences.

Within this course students will broadly explore and learn the general overview history and scope of Consilience.

Covering the fundamental basics and concepts in physics leading to an understanding of physical laws. Covering how the known universe has unfolded from the big bang theory and develops to current dates.

Other areas included are on chemistry, genetics DNA, evolution, biology, ecology, physics and evolutionary neuroscience.

This course explores the jumping together of the many branches of human and academic knowledge and explains that our universe is orderly and this can be demonstrated by a few natural laws.

Enrolment for this course is open to anyone, however it might be better suited to those who are not easily confused by such wording and content.

A thought-provoking exploration of the sciences.
